Aloha! Koa Lani JV, LLC, which consists of Kūpono Government Services, LLC and Amentum Services, Inc., have been awarded the Pacific Missile Range Facility (PMRF) contract. It will include subcontractor Ke`aki Technologies, LLC.

 

Q: Do I have to submit an application for my position?

A: Yes, everyone will have to submit an application through Taleo. Please make sure you read the entire job description that you wish to apply for. Some qualification changes may have occurred.

 

Q: Where do I go to apply for Kūpono (or Ke`aki)?

A: To begin the process, we ask that you adhere to the following steps:

a. Click on the “Kūpono /Ke`aki” button

b. Search for position by entering the following keyword: Kauai, HI

c. Click on the job title to review the position description and requirements. Some positions have new requirements so make sure you read the entire job description.

d. Click “Apply Now” to complete the registration and application, when asked to upload a resume, ensure you click “save” after uploading, then click submit.

e. As a member of the incumbent workforce, please include “incumbent workforce” within the “how did you hear about us” field.

Q. What is the transition going to look like for me?

(Kupono /Ke`aki)

A. We will review your profile and application to confirm it is complete.

 

For current Kupono or Ke`aki incumbents: Offer letters will be generated and e-mailed. Once you sign the offer, we will provide you with any documents that need to be updated.

 

For new to the organization incumbents: Offer letters will be generated and e-mailed, and our offer is contingent upon your successful completion new hire paperwork, drug test and background check.

 

We will proceed to set you up with timekeeping and HR self-service accounts. 

  

We will notify you of orientation sessions to answer any questions you may have.

A. Once your application is received it will be reviewed by our Talent Acquisition team. 

 

Once selected for your position you will receive an offer letter.  When you accept your offer you will be provided with any additional documentation and instructions to complete the hiring process.

 

Your offer will be contingent upon completing all new hire tasks including a drug test and background check.

 

We will notify you about upcoming orientation sessions to answer your questions.

 

During new hire orientation you will receive information on our timekeeping systems, benefits, and MyADP.

Q. How will we be contacted regarding our application?

A. We will contact all phone numbers and emails that are provided.

 

Q. Harris currently has a pension plan. Will this carry over to Kupono/Ke`aki or Amentum? If not, what happens to this pension?

A. No, please contact Harris for more information.

 

Q. What happens to my benefits?

 (Kupono/Ke`aki)

A. Benefits will end on date of termination.  If you are selected for a position benefits will start on hire date.

(Amentum)

A. Benefits will be effective for Amentum employees on date of hire, April 1, 2021.  There is not an option to pre-enroll, so enrollment/election for benefits will start after employees are in our system.  There will be a 31-day window to elect benefits and benefits will be retroactive to April 1st .

 

Q. What happens to my 401k?

 (Kupono/Ke`aki)

A. You will remain fully vested and continue to receive the company match.

 (Amentum)

A. You will have the option to roll your current 401k over into Amentum’s plan.

 

Q. What company do we use for our 401k?

 (Kupono/Ke`aki)

A. TransAmerica

Q. Am I able to roll over my existing 401k?

  (Kupono/Ke`aki)

A. Yes

Q. What happens with my vacation/PTO/PAA leave?

 (Kupono/Ke`aki)

A. You will be paid out your balance of your accrued time.

(Amentum)

A. You will be paid out your balance of your accrued time.

 

Q. Will I accrue my vacation/PTO/PAA at the same rate I did with my previous company?

  (Kupono/Ke`aki)

A. Yes.

 (Amentum)

A. Employees subject to a Collective Bargaining Agreement will accrue vacation/PTO/PAA based on their designated schedules.  Non-union employees will be subject to Amentum’s paid time off procedures and accrual schedules.

 

Q. Will I keep my seniority date?

 (Kupono/Ke`aki)

A. Yes.

 (Amentum)

Q. What is the timeline for the completion of required certifications?

A. Each position that requires its specific certification will have its own timeline.

 

Q. Are any positions going to be cut?

A. Yes

 

Q. Will everyone receive a position?

A. It is Koa Lani JV’s objective and goal to find placement for all incumbents.

 

Q. If we do not get our current position, will we need to train this individual before starting our new position?

A. Management will assess all training needs and plan accordingly.

 

Q. The Custodian position is not showing enough openings. Are some of these positions going away?

A. Yes

 

Q. Will Union Seniority be used to fill these positions?

A. Yes

 

Q. Do I apply to both Kupono/Keaki and Amentum?

A. You do not have to apply to both companies, however, you can.

 

Q. Should we apply for more than one position?

A. Sure, if your qualifications match the positions.

 

Q. Who will be our HR point of contact?

(Kupono/Ke`aki)

A. You will still have an HR onsite, as well as our HR team in Orlando.

(Amentum)

A. You will still have an HR onsite, as well as our HR team in Las Vegas.

 

Q. When will we know which company we will be working with?

A. We will be starting our transition process within this week (2/23 – 3/1)

 

Q. Are we required to re-apply for our secret clearance?

(Kupono/Ke`aki)

A. A valid clearance will be transferred. If you are up for a periodic review, please partner with the FSO.

 

Q.  Are we going to be under the same CBA, or will a new one be negotiated?

A.  The same, we are working with the IBEW and the IBU to ensure the CBA’s will be minimally impacted.

 

Q. Is the 401k contribution based on straight time and overtime?

A. Yes

 

Q. If we are already a Kupono employee, and remain with Kupono, can we roll over our 401k from TransAmerica    to an outside vendor?

A. No, this will be treated as a company transfer (Kupono/Ke`aki) and would not be considered a distributable event.

 

Q. If we are out on FMLA, TDI, or Worker’s Comp, will this end on 4/1/21?

A. No, they will continue.

 

Q. What will happen to our Manu Kai FSA, if signed up for 2021?

A. TBD

 

Q. We heard the transition to the new job we applied for, and get, would be effective 4/1/21. What will happen if we do not get the same position/job function we applied for? How would that effect someone who is out at sea (on MATSS) during mission support (operational support starts ending March to mid or late April)?

A. We are aware of all missions. We will be coordinating with all personnel before 4/1/21.

 

Q. Union employees may want to see if there will be a difference in pay when applying. Would this be possible?

A. CBA rates will not be changed. The new offer letters will provide this information as well as current CBA.

Q: When will we get trained on the Deltek system for timekeeping?

A: Training will be done by finance/payroll April 1st, 2nd 5th and 6th.

 

Q: What happens to unused floating holiday?

A: The floating holiday is given at the beginning of every year and is not carried over or a paid out benefit. Payroll will load the floating holiday that has not been used, so far for 2021.  

 

Q: How will vacation paid out, be taxed?

A: Payroll will tax the hours as normal vacation/PAA hours.

A: No, all vacation hours will be paid out as we close out the Manu Kai contract. Hours cannot roll into the new contract with Koa Lani.
